‘Save the Youths Conference’ debuts in Ikot Ekpene as Council Boss pledges support

Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District on Sunday 29th September 2019 witnessed another Socio-Political gathering.

It was the maiden edition of Save the Youths Conference in the Senatorial District.

The Conference which is aimed at addressing the problems of the youths had Youth Groups , Youths Leaders, Community Heads, Ward Councillors, Young Professionals, Ikot Ekpene Council Chairman and Vice all in attendance.

The event was opened with a prayer by Pst. Ab Isong, Lead Pastor @ The Citadel Ministry, followed by a Vision statement of ‘SAVE THE YOUTHS CONFERENCE’ anchored by Mr Udo-Akagha Inyang (Peasy), the Project Manager.

Couple of musical performances and Miss Asuquo Blessing of ‘Rockland TV’ spoke briefly on ‘Leadership.

The executive Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council, Hon. Unyime Etim later addressed the youths of the area to shun violence and focus on meaningful venture as the Government is doing all they can to make Ikot Ekpene alive again.

He also thanked the organizers of the event and promised to always support creative ideas like this.

Mr Leo Leo Umana (Ikot Ekpene youth Leader & Chairman of AKIRS) who was one of the Guest Speakers later spoke on “Dangers of Cultism and the Effect of Drug Abuse”.

In his Key Note Address, he highlighted the effects of drug abuse, told the youths to key into the ‘Dakadda’ Philosophy of the Governor while being good citizens of our dear State.

Ezekiel Etemudia also known as ‘Street Governor’ in his address challenged the youths to be productive by learning a trade so as to be relevant in the Society.

The climax of the event was a Round Table discussion which had the CEO of Smile we Care, Mr. Inyang James,

Beauty Queen and current Miss Uyai Annang, and the session was anchored by Amazing Aniebiet Francis, CEO of ‘Orange Films*.

The CEO of ‘Smile we Care’, Mr Inyang James added That his team will soon commence training of youths in Soup Making, Paint Production and Cake Making and many more areas of their choice.

Next turn is ‘Save the Youths’ Conference’ (Akwa Ibom State Edition) coming up in January @ Villa Marina hotel, Eket which will feature Most Outstanding Youth (MOY) Awards to deserving Akwa Ibom youths who are excelling in their different Entreprenuership.
