Police confirm attempt to bomb church attended by Wike’s father

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the attack on the Church attended by Elder Wike, father of Governor Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt.

Spokesman of the Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident via a message to ND REPORTERS.

The worship centre attended by Elder Wike, father of the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike was attacked by some suspected hoodlums who detonated dynamite that caused damage to the Church building Saturday night.

This is the second time the Church, Christain Universal Church International at #25, Azikiwe Street Mile 3-Diobu, Port Harcourt will be attacked under one Month.

The Church was first attacked by a set of hoodlums during the heat of the violent EndSARS protest in Rivers State where they pelted stones at the Church.

This time, some suspects who allegedly detonated the dynamite at the worship centre were arrested.

The Police spokesman said the Anti-Bomb unit of the Command has been deployed to the Church while 3 suspects have been arrested.

“I can confirm the attack on the Church and three suspects arrested in connection with the attack. They are helping us in our Investigation.

“The Church has been swept by the Bomb Department. More details will follow later,” the message read.
