The departed State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obong Udo Ekpenyong, has been described by the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Frank Archibong, as “a man with beautiful ideas and a thorough gentleman who was thoroughly meticulous in all his dealings”
The Commissioner who noted that the death of Obong Udo Ekpeyong has created huge burden to the party said he has personally lost a father who taught him all that he needed to know in politics adding that “He never had fault and was loyal to a fault”.
Mr. Archibong, stated this on Monday 22 February,2021, when he led a high powered delegation of party Chieftains from Eket LGA on a condolence visit to commiserate and mourn with the State leadership of the party over the painful demise of the State Chairman of the Party, Hon. Udo Ekpeyong at the State party Secretariat, Atan Offot, Uyo.
“We would have been better today if Udo Ekpeyong was still alive. Though, we will successfully transit; but we would have had a seamless transition if our late Party Chairman was alive” Mr. Archibong submitted in a sorber tone.
He further assured the party and the government that the positive legacies left behind by the departed State Chairman would be encouraged and sustained, while codoling with the deceased family to take solace in the Lord.
In his message of commiseration, the PDP Chapter Chairman of Eket, Obongiwaad Emman Mbong, said “late Udo Ekpeyong was a man of impeccable character who believed in ethical principles and fair leadership and, had always perfected his assignment without fault.”
In his reponse, the acting State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon. Lawrence Udosen who recieved the Eket delegation corroborated the submission of other speakers, saying “I can attest to the fact that he was the fulcrum upon which the party mobilization rested.
“He was destined to attain greater height. We all know him as a driver of Positive force and party collosus who has left behind great legacies”.
