The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said its leader, Nnamdi Kanu never issued a counter statement on the sack of his disciple, Simon Ekpa.
Kanu has been in DSS custody since his rearrest and repatriation from an undisclosed African country, a few weeks ago.
While in detention, IPOB had sacked Ekpa for failing to follow laid down rules on the broadcast of contents on Radio Biafra.
To this end, some news platforms, not NDREPORTERS, had reported that Kanu frowned at IPOB’s decision to sack Ekpa.
Reacting, IPOB’s mouthpiece, Emma Powerful, refuted such reports, saying Kanu never made such remark.
In a statement, Powerful said Kanu has not used his phone since he was rearrested and repatriated.
Powerful, however, said Ekpa can return as a reporter on Radio Biafra, whenever he feels ready to follow the laid down principles of IPOB.
According to Powerful: “We the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, wish to debunk the fake news purportedly issued by our Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu name from DSS detention in Abuja concerning Mazi Simon Ekpa who refused to follow the rules of engagement over his appointment as a broadcaster on Radio Biafra.
“Our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu never issued any counter statement to our earlier position that Ekpa might not continue as a broadcaster on the platform following his unwillingness to do the needful which is the rule for every broadcaster on the platform.
Biafra: Simon Ekpa declares sit-at-home as Nnamdi Kanu faces trial
“We are equally aware that since 19th of June 2021, the FG and her counterparts Kenyan government and her compromised security agencies committed unlawful rendition against the globe and our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, he has not touched any phone or have access to the social media.
“While we continue to appreciate the huge contributions of Ekpa and other Biafrans towards the struggle for our liberation, we cannot change the rules of operation laid down by the IPOB hierarchy under the leadership of our Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Mazi Ekpa can still take up his assigned role once he does the needful like every other broadcaster on the platform.
“The purported statement is fake and never emanated from our Leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as he would have done so through his lawyers or the appropriate channels of information dissemination in IPOB
