The speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Chinedum Orji, has expressed sadness at the passing of a former Commissioner for Sports in the state, Chief Uche Mpamah.
NDREPORTERS reported that a former Commissioner for Sports in Abia State, Uche Mpamah was confirmed dead after an undisclosed illness on Saturday.
The deceased served as commissioner under the administration of former Governor Theodore Orji.
Until his demise, the Mpamah was a grassroots and consummate politician, and contested for the House of Representatives ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during its 2018 primaries for the Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency seat.
Extolling the virtues of the late commissioner in a condolence message made available to journalists in Umuahia on Wednesday, the Abia Speaker described the Mpamah’s death as a loyal ally who during his era as commissioner contributed in no small measure to the development of sports in the state.
Rt. Hon Orji prayed to God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Similarly, Orji is saddened by the timely death of Mrs Onyinyechi Agbazure.
The deceased is the wife of Professor Anthony Agbazuere, the Chief of Staff to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.
He described the late Onyinyechi Agbazuere as a very gentle woman and pillar of support to her husband and family, and lamented that her death was a great loss not only to her immediate family but to Abia as a whole.
Orji prayed to God to grant her gentle soul eternal rest and give Professor Agbazuere and the entire family the fortitude to bear the loss
