Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has expressed confidence that this new year (2022) will open new vistas of development in Abia State.
He also assured that with an improved socio-economic outlook in the State, the new year will definitely be better than previous years.
Governor Ikpeazu gave the assurance in his warm New year message to the people of Abia, issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, on Saturday.
He thanked God for sparing their lives to see a brand new year that promises to be filled with great hopes for the state.
The State Chief Executive also thanked God for the peace and security the citizens enjoy in the State and tasked Abians to cooperate with his administration to ensure that peace and harmony continued to reign supreme.
Ikpeazu further assured that adequate measures were in place to ensure that the people enjoyed the yuletide season in peace and with their lives and properties adequately protected.
According to him in his statement, “On the economic front, we look forward to increased economic activities in our state, especially with the expected ground breaking ceremony of the Enyimba Economic City Project around the second quarter of 2022.
“In addition to this, we have invested heavily in mobilizing contractors to different project sites across the State, especially in Aba. The new year will witness heightened construction activities designed to increase our infrastructural stock and ease the movement of our people, their goods and services”.
The Abia Governor also expressed joy that the State House of Assembly was able to conclude legislative work on the 2022 Appropriation Bill which he signed into law on the 31st of December 2021, making the Appropriation Law effective from today, January 1st, 2022.
This, Ikpeazu noted, will add greater impetus to Government Business in 2022. He pledged his commitment to the full implementation of the budget for the greater good of the people of Abia State.
He further reminded Abians that 2022 will witness increased political activities across the country, as the race for 2023 commences effectively, admonishing them to be on guard and avoid any action that will plunge the State into needless chaos in the name of politics.
Governor Ikpeazu also tasked key political actors and parties to be mindful of the peace and security of the people as they engage in their political activities.
He, however, on behalf of his family, wished all Abians a beautiful 2022 filled with the blessings of God Almighty
